A body of work based on ideas of an empty or depopulated world...

Pruitt-Igoe - an oil painting

Pruitt-Igoe. This oil painting is based on a moment from the film Koyaanisqatsi, by Godfrey Reggio. Time stands still in a derelict modernist apartment, shortly before it is destroyed to make way for more appropriate housing.
The massive urban housing project in St Louis, Missouri (called Pruitt-Igoe) was completed in 1954, yet only 17 years later it was being razed, after complete social failure.

Interestingly, it was designed by the same architect who designed the World Trade Centre (see first painting: 9/11); Minoru Yamasaki.

As for myself, I spent large amounts of time as a child exploring derelict buildings. My heart still pounds when I think of those strange empty places, theatres for the imaginings of childhood.
